Another great free activity in the open air is to enjoy walking along the areas great water courses. Gloucester has its famous docks area that connects both to the River Severn (UK Longest river and Severn Bore attraction) and the Sharpness Canal. Stroud has rennovated its town centre canal network and if you fancy a long walk you can follow it all the way to Gloucester. Its quite a way mind you. Places along the river Severn worth a visit include Tewkesbury and Upton upon Severn. You can also connect to the the canal and River Thamas at South Cerney a short drive away. See the Head of the Thamas as well there. Talking of water. South Cerney also has many lakes with lots of water activities from sailing, water skiing and fishing
